What is the PRP Facial
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy works on the basis that the body’s own natural healing powers may slow and even reverse the ageing process – it’s a revolutionary repair system that places growth factors in the exact location where we want the skin to repair and rejuvenate itself.
Platelets contain a high content of “growth factors” – proteins that help to heal injured tissue or damaged skin. Upon re-injection the platelets release their growth factors which trigger surrounding cells to proliferate, in turn stimulating repair, collagen induction and rejuvenation of the skin.
Blood is taken from the patient's arm during the treatment, then spun in a centrifuge to harvest the platelet rich plasma which will be activated and re-injected into the desired area. Microneedling can be performed during the treatment to aid diffusion and absorption of the PRP.
The treatment will improve skin texture and tone, fill out fine lines and wrinkles, help scar healing and give an overall more radiant appearance.

Not all PRP systems are equally effective
Under-dosing is a serious problem in this field. If you’re using PRP with below 3X platelet concentration, you are not receiving an effective treatment.
Studies have shown that a concentration of at least 1,000,000 platelets/µl is needed for optimal therapeutic benefits. That is 5X the concentration of platelets in normal whole blood.
That is the very reason why we advocate not using Gel-based PRP Kits which are commonly used in many clinics for PRP separation. The problem with gel-based kit is that most of the platelets will get trapped in the gel. Instead a kit like DrPRP kit gives you 5X-9X platelets because it uses a mechanical separation process while giving the same 1-step convenience of gel separators.
